The TU Dresden owns a Historic Acoustic-Phonetic Collection (HAPS) with interesting exhibits from the history of experimental phonetics and speech technology. It is located at the Barkhausen Building at the main campus of the TU. Selected items from the collection have been presented at the websites of the Interspeech during the last months in the Historical Reviews.
Interspeech offers two tours for those who want to see the real exhibits. Due to spatial restrictions, the number of participants per tour is limited to 15. Therefore it will be necessary to register for a tour upon registration for Interspeech conference at the front desk located in the Conference Center in Dresden.
Dates and meeting points are as follows:
Tour 1: Wednesday, September 9, 16h30-18h30.
Meeting time: 16:20 at the information desk at the registration area of the conference.
A bus transfer will be provided.
Tour 2 (post-conference): Friday, September 11, 11h00-13h00
Visitors are recommended to take tram 3 until the stop “Münchner Platz”. We will pick up you there at 11:00 and guide you to the collection, because it is not easy to find due to construction work at the Barkhausen Building.
